John Pertzborn from Fox 2 stopped in to do a story about our charity fundraiser. Officers can donate $100.00 to charity and wear a goatees for one year. 37 officers have made contributions, for a total of$370.00 and have been growing goatees for over a month. Deputy Roger McClean presented the idea to the Sheriff and we were all quite surprised when it was approved.On October 15, 2009 the goatees have to go!Let's see if other departments in the area meet the challenge.

A huge turnout of spectators at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport delayed a demonstration jump by 250 paratroopers from the Army's 82nd Airborne Division. The Sheriff's Department was on hand to control traffic.The jump was delayed from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. today to get more of the long line of spectators into the airport.Many of the 250 paratroopers are Iraq war veterans and will be flying in directly from their home base at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After the skydiving, they'll attend the division's yearly reunion and convention in St. Louis.
