She´d made hundred of recordings and TV-Shows and was omnipresent. With this it´s easy to overestimate her, but choosing her in this list is full persuasion.Rothenberger was a typical german style lyric soprano, made for Mozart, Strauss and for operettas. But she sang almost everything from baroque to modern music, even Lulu.Barely another soprano I know had such a crystal clear pronunciation and such an aristocratic timbré. I rate her more than Schwarzkopf, especially in Lieder and operettas. And hearing her Un bel di (unfortunately only available in german) gives me chills down my spine. She was excellent!What do you think about her?
